COLLAGEN FOR
SKIN HEALTH

One of the most popular benefits people associate with collagen is skin health. Not only does collagen have the potential to treat wrinkles, it also may aid the process of increasing the smoothness and overall health of your skin.

Below are three of the most popular potential skin related benefits

Collagen May Reduce Wrinkles & Other Skin Aging Signs

Elasticity is the name of the game when it comes to reducing wrinkles and other skin aging signs.

70% of your skin is made up of collagen. It provides elasticity to your skin, helping it to appear more youthful and free from wrinkles.

Around age 25, our collagen production slows down. Without collagen there to provide elasticity, our skin begins to show fine lines, wrinkles, loose skin, and dryness.

One study performed on 69 women (ages 35 – 55), where 46 of them took a collagen supplement and the rest took a placebo; found that the women who took collagen showed an improvement in skin elasticity within four weeks – while the others did not.

Bottom Line: Collagen is responsible for the elasticity and health of your skin. Taking it as a supplement may lead to less wrinkles and dryness.

Collagen May Reduce Cellulite

Cellulite occurs when the layer of fat under the skin pushes against the connective tissue, and creates a dimpled or lumpy appearance on the skin. While cellulite is very common and a natural part of aging, some women may prefer to minimize the appearance of cellulite.

According to a 2015 study, Collagen may just be the answer to all the cellulite woes. In 2015, researches randomly assigned 105 women to take collagen for six months. Those women that took collagen demonstrated a clear improvement in skin texture and waviness.

One reason as to why collagen may reduce cellulite is that structural changes in your skin’s tissue, including weakened collagen fibers, makes cellulite more apparent because your skin becomes thinner and less able to conceal the cellulite caused by fat just below the surface.

Bottom Line: Certain studies have shown that collagen may reduce cellulite; with one of the reasons being collagen’s ability to improve structure and thickness in the skin above the layer.

Collagen May Increase Softness of the Skin

As mentioned earlier, collagen is extremely important to the elasticity (and softness) of your skin. More specifically, type I and III collagen is the most important.

When babies are born, they have type II collagen by the boatloads. Rapidly, this type III collagen starts decreasing and type I collagen starts taking over. Then, once the average person reaches the age of about 25, the collagen type I production also slows down. This is why the softness of our skin is at the peak when we are first born, and slowly declines year after year.

Our collagen maximizer, along with the rest of our collagen products, contains both type I and type III collagen peptides to help aid the production of collagen in your body.
